Google Philippines has launched the Google AI Educator Series (GES), a free online training program designed to help Filipino educators learn practical and responsible ways to use artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and administrative work.

Launched on October 13, 2026, the program offers self-paced modules lasting 15 to 45 minutes. Participants can earn digital badges as they complete the training, which covers AI applications in education, prompt engineering, data privacy, and academic integrity.

The initiative is being rolled out in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to reach educators across basic, higher, and technical-vocational education.

DepEd has made the program available through the Bureau of Learning Delivery Hub since September 28, ahead of its formal nationwide endorsement through an upcoming joint issuance. The rollout is expected to include accreditation from the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit units required for Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license renewal.

CHED will issue an advisory informing higher education institutions that the series is an optional professional development resource for teaching, learning, and research. Meanwhile, the program is already integrated into the TESDA Online Program, the agency’s free e-learning platform.

The training aims to help educators create interactive learning activities, provide personalized student support, automate administrative tasks, and improve students’ research skills. It also emphasizes the safe, ethical, and responsible use of AI in classrooms.

Google Philippines Country Manager Prep Palacios said the initiative builds on the company’s ongoing efforts to train one million DepEd educators, providing practical tools to reduce administrative workloads while allowing teachers to focus more on instruction and student engagement.

The launch also highlighted findings on AI adoption among educators. A study presented by Google Philippines found that 86% of Filipino educators were inclined to use AI, while a UNESCO survey cited in the report found that 50% of educators had low confidence or understanding of the technology.

Educators can access the Google AI Educator Series through the TESDA Online Program or the official Google AI Educator Series website.
