In the early days of the academic year, one of the activities that FPTU students pay the most attention to is registering for On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs abroad. During these "sea-crossing" OJT programs, through direct participation in projects, exposure to multinational operational processes, and the development of proactive learning skills, FPTU students gradually improve their professional skills and life experience, confidently taking control of their future careers.

From classroom knowledge to practical professional experience.

Every year, FPTU students at its five campuses ( Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, and Can Tho) participate in on-the-job training (OJT) programs in other countries, experiencing a journey out of their comfort zone to directly engage with a multinational work environment. Students no longer play the role of observers, but directly participate in operational processes, handle real-world projects, and face work pressure like full-time employees.

For example, starting in September 2026, FPT University students majoring in Japanese Bridge Engineering will begin their journey to Tokyo, Japan to participate in the On the Job Training (OJT) Fall 2026 semester. For approximately three months, they will study at the FPT Japan Academy, while also exploring the culture, lifestyle, and work environment of the country where they are learning the language.

In addition to approximately 200 hours of coursework, the program dedicates 336 hours to experiential activities. Students have the opportunity to visit and learn about the culture, lifestyle, and work environment in Japan. While classroom lessons help students understand Japan through language, these practical experiences offer a closer perspective on the country – from communication and behavior to manners and pace of life.
