Not only are Toyota adding hybrid versions to its high-end, multi-million dollar models in Vietnam, but the company is also gradually incorporating them into its premium vehicles in Vietnam. Following the Alphard MPV, Toyota Vietnam (TMV) recently launched the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid – the company's most luxurious SUV in Vietnam.

The Land Cruiser Hybrid is an electrified version of the LC300 generation, which the Japanese automaker unveiled in its home country in mid-last year. By early 2026, Toyota began expanding the distribution of the Land Cruiser Hybrid to many markets worldwide, and it has now officially appeared in Vietnam.

According to TMV, the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid, imported directly from Japan, has a listed price of 4.71 billion VND. However, customers choosing the white version will have to pay an additional 20 million VND. Compared to the previous gasoline version, the listed price of the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid is 130 million VND higher. This is the seventh model in Toyota's product lineup in Vietnam to have a hybrid version added.

Essentially, the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid retains the same styling and dimensions as the gasoline version. The Japanese automaker has only refined some details on the front and rear bumpers to create a difference. Meanwhile, the interior space and features remain identical to the all-gasoline version.

The biggest difference lies in the powertrain. The Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid uses a parallel hybrid system, combining a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor. According to Toyota's specifications, this combination delivers a total output of up to 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. This version is equipped with electric power steering.

Thus, compared to the gasoline-only version, the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid's engine system is 48 horsepower more powerful and has 140 Nm more torque. The vehicle is also heavier; however, according to information from the Vietnam Registering Authority, the combined fuel consumption of the Land Cruiser Hybrid is only about 10 liters/100 km, a reduction of nearly 23% compared to the gasoline-only version.

According to Toyota, the hybrid engine system combined with a rigid chassis not only helps the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid operate powerfully and smoothly on the road but also possesses versatile off-road capabilities, as the electric motor can provide smooth and consistent throttle response even on the most challenging terrain.
