The beauty of the Thất Sơn (Seven Mountains) region in An Giang province doesn't lie in its grandeur. The mountains here aren't exceptionally high, and the fields aren't vast. What captivates visitors is the tranquility this land offers. It's a rural area that still maintains a leisurely pace of life amidst a constantly changing era; it's a feeling of being closer to nature, to the earth and sky, and to oneself.

People often think of the Mekong Delta with its rivers, floating markets, and orchards laden with fruit. But An Giang presents a different image. Amidst the vast plains, solitary mountains emerge, creating a rare landscape in Southern Vietnam. This harmonious blend of mountains and plains gives the Thất Sơn region its unique character – where low mountain slopes meet expansive rice paddies, and nature is both expansive and serene.

While much of the Mekong Delta was still shrouded in early morning mist, the Thất Sơn region had already begun to welcome the first rays of sunlight. The light emerged from the horizon, slowly enveloping the mountain ranges before spreading across the fields and the rows of palm trees standing silently against the sky. In that moment, the entire land was bathed in a soft golden glow.

In just a few short minutes, the landscape seems to be bathed in the golden glow of the early morning sun. The most familiar things suddenly become different. A rice field, a row of trees, or a small boat all take on their own unique beauty when touched by that first light of day.

In another corner, the roofs of Khmer temples peek through the early morning sun. The calls of birds from the trees, the rustling of the wind through the rice fields, and the footsteps of people beginning a new day of work create a peaceful rhythm of everyday life. In the early morning light, the temples, the red dirt roads, and the simple houses all possess a unique beauty, as if time is slowing down.

Thất Sơn is a unique cultural space where many communities have lived together for generations. The Kinh, Khmer, and Cham people have all contributed to creating a distinct identity for this land on the southwestern border of the country. Khmer temples with their vibrant curved roofs, traditional festivals, palm groves, and folk tales associated with each mountain have made Thất Sơn both familiar and full of fascinating stories.

There are mornings when clouds blanket the mountainside like a thin silk ribbon. There are days when the sun rises from the clear sky after a night's rain, illuminating the entire field. And there are moments when just a single ray of sunlight piercing through the trees is enough to complete the scene.

As the sun rises higher, life begins to bustle. The roads fill with the sounds of vehicles, and the fields are filled with the figures of laborers. But even in the busiest hours, nature here retains its own unique tranquility. The sky is expansive, the view stretches far, and the sunlight seems to extend to the horizon.

Perhaps that's why photographers always flock to this place. Not only to capture the beautiful moments of sunrise, but also to preserve the emotions evoked by a land where each morning brings a different nuance. In the moment the sun rises over the mountains of the Thất Sơn region, one understands that sometimes the greatest beauty lies not in the grandeur, but in the simple, peaceful moments of nature.

As the sun rises higher, the gentle hues of dawn gradually give way to the brilliant light of day. But the feeling that the early morning in That Son leaves behind remains. A touch of tranquility, a sense of relaxation, and a lingering feeling that remains long after the sun has risen.
