British luxury car manufacturer Bentley has confirmed its first electric vehicle, named Torcal. The model is expected to be fully unveiled on September 23, 2026, following Bentley's release of a teaser image of the rear of the car.
According to Bentley, the Torcal is a fully electric SUV , approximately 5 meters long and with a range of over 300 miles, or more than 480 km. Further details will be announced at the official launch event.
The name Torcal is inspired by El Torcal de Antequera, a famous limestone landscape in Andalusia, Spain . The name also alludes to the word "torque," a crucial element in the performance of electric vehicles.
The Torcal's design inherits many features from the Bentayga, Bentley's familiar sports utility vehicle, but on a smaller scale. It retains the long hood, upright front end, and distinctive body lines. The rear roofline slopes lower to reduce air resistance and increase range.

One notable exterior feature is the new grille, which has been replaced with a crystalline illuminated array. Inside, Bentley combines physical buttons for key functions with an OLED screen, instead of switching entirely to touch controls.
However, the Torcal launched during an unfavorable period for the luxury electric vehicle segment. Many major automakers had to adjust their electrification plans due to weakening demand. Lamborghini postponed the Lanzador electric model, Ferrari delayed the launch of its second electric vehicle, while several luxury electric models from Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, and Rolls-Royce recorded significant sales declines or depreciation.
Bentley has also adjusted its electrification strategy, pushing back its goal of becoming a purely electric brand from 2030 to 2035. The company says it will continue to sell gasoline, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles in parallel in the coming years.
Nevertheless, Bentley hopes that Torcal can create its own appeal through its familiar design, focusing on brand identity rather than pursuing overly radical changes.
