Based on a survey of people from 26 different countries about their personal experiences with politeness – this is the result of a list of the politeest countries in the world.
It may not seem like the biggest deciding factor when traveling, but whether you feel welcome in a place depends on the attitude of the locals. This can make a huge difference to a traveler's experience. That's why international financial services provider Remitly has done some research on the most polite countries in the world , according to Time Out .
They surveyed over 5,000 people from 26 different countries, based on their perceptions of their own politeness, as well as places they had visited where they had been greeted by polite people. Japan topped the list of the world's most polite countries, with over a third (specifically 35.15%) of respondents describing it as a polite nation.
Japan is consistently praised as the most polite country in the world.

This is hardly surprising, given Japan's global reputation for valuing respect and social harmony, with its language built on honorifics and bowing being customary.
Canada ranked second with a politeness score of 13.5%, and the UK came in third with 6.23%. These two countries actually share many similarities in their perceptions of politeness – a tendency to apologize excessively and frequently use "please" and "thank you".
