The Zeekr 009 is currently available for pre-order at several dealerships in Vietnam, with an expected price of around 4.2 billion VND, making it the most expensive model in the product range that this Chinese electric vehicle brand is preparing to officially distribute. If the plan proceeds as scheduled, the first vehicles could be delivered to customers by the end of this year.
The appearance of the Zeekr 009 shows that the company's ambitions extend beyond the mainstream electric SUV or mid-size family car segment. Instead, Zeekr has chosen the luxury MPV segment, a field long dominated by familiar names like the Toyota Alphard or business-oriented vehicles from Europe.
With an overall length exceeding 5.2 meters and a wheelbase of up to 3,205 mm, the Zeekr 009 is developed with passenger space in mind. This is a key factor that is highly valued by corporate clients, high-end hotels, or large families when choosing a large MPV.
Unlike many electric vehicles that pursue a sporty style, the Zeekr 009 impresses with its imposing and luxurious appearance. Its boxy design, large front end, and numerous chrome details give this MPV the feel of a limousine rather than a typical family car.
The biggest highlight lies in the interior. The car uses a 6-seat configuration with independent business-class seats, focusing on the passenger experience rather than the driving feel. The second row of seats is equipped with many amenities such as power adjustment, cooling, massage, and a speaker system integrated into the headrests.
The entertainment space is also heavily invested in, with the Zeekr 009 featuring a 17-inch ceiling-mounted OLED screen for rear passengers. The center console is equipped with a 15.05-inch OLED screen combined with a head-up display (HUD) projected onto the windshield, providing a technological experience comparable to many luxury sedans.
In addition, a range of premium features such as power sliding doors on both sides, dual sunroofs, power tailgate, Yamaha sound system, and ADAS advanced driver assistance package show that the Zeekr aims to build an image of a comprehensive luxury electric MPV rather than just competing on electric power.
In terms of performance, the Zeekr 009 boasts a dual-electric motor configuration with a total output of approximately 912 horsepower and a maximum torque of 913 Nm. This power far surpasses most MPVs currently on the market, even approaching that of many high-performance sports cars.
Thanks to its all-wheel drive system, this electric MPV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. This is an unimaginable figure for a vehicle as large and prioritizing passenger space as the Zeekr 009.
Despite its impressive specifications, the biggest challenge for the Zeekr 009 in Vietnam probably doesn't lie in its technology or performance. With a price tag of around 4.2 billion VND, this model will have to convince a customer base already familiar with luxury MPVs powered by gasoline engines.
The competition between a technologically advanced electric MPV and traditional options with long-standing brand value promises to be a key highlight in the luxury car market in the near future.
