The Jaecoo J5 EV is receiving positive feedback in the Indonesian market, quickly attracting significant consumer interest in the electric SUV segment. Shortly after its launch, the model has delivered over 7,000 units, becoming one of the brand's standout products in its Southeast Asian expansion strategy. This result reflects the increasing demand for new energy vehicles in the region and demonstrates the appeal of electric SUVs in the mainstream-mid-range segment.

Market interest in the Jaecoo J5 EV is evident as the model quickly garnered a large number of orders after its price was announced at the end of 2025. According to retail data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (GAIKINDO), the J5 EV became the best-selling electric SUV in Indonesia in January 2026 with 1,942 units and continued to hold the top position in February with 2,926 units. This achievement was further solidified when the model was awarded the "Most Affordable SUV" award at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026.

The Jaecoo J5 EV is the brand's first all-electric SUV in Indonesia, developed to meet the growing demand for green mobility. It's equipped with a 155 kW (210 hp) electric motor and a 60.9 kWh battery pack, providing a maximum range of 461 km according to NEDC standards. A 130 kW DC fast charging system shortens charging times, making it more convenient for daily use and long journeys.

In terms of features, the Jaecoo J5 EV is developed as a modern electric SUV, focusing on safety and convenience. The model boasts a high-strength steel frame, 17 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), 6 airbags, and a 540-degree panoramic camera system. Inside the cabin, a 13.2-inch central screen serves as the control center for entertainment and driving features. The luggage compartment has a maximum capacity of 1,180 liters, offering flexibility for family use or long trips.

Besides the J5 EV, hybrid models like the Jaecoo J7 SHS-P and Jaecoo J8 SHS-P also play a crucial role in the brand's electrification strategy in Indonesia. These models are equipped with Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology, combining a 1.5 TGDI gasoline engine with an electric motor and DHT transmission, allowing the vehicle to operate flexibly in various modes such as pure electric, hybrid, or energy recovery during braking. This solution optimizes performance while increasing fuel efficiency.

The positive results in Indonesia are seen as an important stepping stone for Jaecoo's expansion plans in Southeast Asia. According to the plan, the Jaecoo J5 EV electric SUV is expected to be introduced to the Vietnamese market in Q2/2026, expanding Omoda & Jaecoo Vietnam's product portfolio alongside its current gasoline and hybrid models.

The arrival of the J5 EV is expected to provide Vietnamese customers with more options in the electric SUV segment, while further affirming Omoda & Jaecoo's electrification strategy in the Vietnamese market in the coming time.
