On November 4th, the Korean edition of FourFourTwo published an article analyzing the implications of the decision to postpone the 2027 Asian Cup, while also highlighting the uncertain future of coach Kim Sang-sik . According to Korean media, the coach may not be with the Vietnamese national team until the tournament takes place as originally planned.
Previously, on November 3rd, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia would be postponed from the originally scheduled dates of January 7th - February 5th, 2027 to December 23rd, 2027 - January 21st, 2028. This decision was made amidst complex developments in the Middle East, leading to logistical and travel difficulties.
FourFourTwo analyzed: “The change has forced many football federations to reconsider their personnel plans, especially those teams that have based their head coach contracts on the end date of the 2027 Asian Cup. In Vietnam, the issue is even more noteworthy because Coach Kim Sang-sik's current contract expires in February 2027, about 10 months earlier than the Asian Cup according to the new schedule.”
