On September 9th, the police in Buon Don commune ( Dak Lak province ) announced that they had completed the procedures to hand over a Burmese kite to the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Elephant Conservation, Animal Rescue, and Forest Management and Protection for rescue and care before releasing it back into its natural environment.
Authorities have received the Burmese kite that was discovered and handed over by local residents.

Earlier, on the morning of September 8th, the Buon Don commune police received information that Mr. Luong Ngoc Son (42 years old), while visiting his farm in Thong Nhat village, Buon Don commune, unexpectedly discovered a large bird with unusual colors lying motionless under a tree, unable to fly on its own.
Mr. Son then brought the bird to the Buon Don Commune Police Station to hand it over, requesting coordination with relevant units to take measures to care for it, and then release it back into its natural environment.
Mr. Le Quoc Dung, in charge of the Wildlife Rescue Station under the Center for Elephant Conservation, Animal Rescue and Forest Management and Protection of Dak Lak province, said that the bird discovered by the people is a Burmese kite, weighing about 1.1 kg.

Mr. Dung said that after receiving the bird from the authorities, the unit checked its body parts and health indicators. This is a female Burmese kite, about 2-3 years old. Currently, the bird is being cared for by veterinarians, isolated in a separate cage, and fed chopped chicken meat.
According to authorities, the Burmese kite, scientifically known as Spilornis cheela, is a forest animal belonging to Group IIB - a category of endangered and rare species that require strict protection under Vietnamese law .
