TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Not many people think of Kuningan as a vacation destination. But the regency in West Java, bolstered by its beautiful nature, is actually home to numerous sightseeing spots, especially when it comes to water tourism in the heart of beautiful forests.

From waterfalls to lakes to plantations, here are Tempo's picks for the best places in Kuningan to spend a holiday with the family.

  1. Cicerem Blue Lagoon

Located in Kaduela Village, Pasawahan District, Cicerem Blue Lagoon attracts many with its clear bluish water that allows visitors to see the colorful fish living in it. While enjoying the natural beauty and cool air, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities here. The area is also home to a number of fun things to enjoy

  1. Curug Putri

Curug Putri, which translates as Princess Waterfall, is located at the foot of Mount Ciremai within the Cisantana area, Cigugur. This waterfall, which has remained relatively unchanged from its natural state, will welcome visitors with its fresh water and peaceful natural atmosphere with the sound of birds chirping, the rustling of the wind, the gentle splash of water.

  1. Cibuntu Tourism Village

Still at the foot of Mt. Ciremai, Cibuntu Tourism Village is located in Pasawahan District. It was named the best ASEAN tourism village for homestays in 2016, and won the second place in the best tourism village in the prestigious Community Based Tourism (CBT) award in 2017 by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

The village has several interesting spots, such as the Gongseng Waterfall, which reaches a height of 20-25 meters and has a pool that can be used for swimming. Cibuntu is also home to the Bujal Dayeuh Cultural Heritage Site. This site has a number of ancient relics such as stone tomb coffins and hand axes.

  1. Yellow Dragon Fruit Garden

Yellow dragon fruit is a rare variety and relatively unknown to the public compared to red dragon fruit. In order to promote the variety, the Kuningan Regency Government introduced the Yellow Dragon Fruit Garden as a new agro-tourism destination. Located in Sangkanhurip Village, Kuningan, the garden has about 4,500 yellow dragon fruit trees planted on an area of 2.5 hectares.

  1. Situ Walukut

Walukut Lake is regarded as being as picturesque as Lake Ranu Kumbolo in Gunung Semeru, East Java. The 1.2-hectare lake is located in Kertayuga village, Nusaherang district, within the area of the Forestry Public Company (Perum Perhutani) of the Kuningan regional government.

Initially, this lake was just a source of water for the locals and for irrigating rice fields. However, its natural beauty attracts many visitors who come to enjoy the scenery surrounded by the scenic pine forests.
