TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - One of the most anticipated music festivals in the world, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, is coming back to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in April 2027.

Waves of renewed excitement were felt on Wednesday as the video giant YouTube announced that it inked a new deal with Coachella's promoter, Goldenvoice, to extend its exclusive livestream right for the festival through 2030. The next edition of the festival in 2027 will mark YouTube's 15th year of livestreaming the music event.

With this new piece of information, it is inevitable that attention shifts into arguably one of the most important things about any music festival that has ever been held: who are the headliners?

When will Coachella 2027 kick off?

According to TimeOut, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will be held over two weekends, April 9-11 and April 16-18, 2027. The advance ticket sale for Coachella was held on May 1, and it sold out quickly.

This year's event was also held in April, from 10-12 for Weekend 1, while Weekend 2 runs from April 17-19, 2026.

Which acts are likely to headline Coachella 2027?

The lineup for Coachella is typically announced in January, although that hasn't been the case for the past couple of years. TimeOut noted that the Coachella lineup in 2025 was announced in November, and even earlier in September for this year's edition.

While the 2027 lineup has not been announced, industry publication HITS Daily Double has come through with a list of rumored headliners. Dua Lipa, Tame Impala, and BTS are some of the major acts predicted to grace the stage in Indio.

1. Dua Lipa

The Grammy-winning singer behind chart-topping hits 'New Rules,' 'Levitating,' and 'Don't Start Now' is one of the leading rumored acts to headline Coachella. She has never done a full set at the festival, but she appeared as a surprise guest appearance during Martin Garrix's set in 2017.

According to HITS, industry insiders said Dua's team has been in talks with Coachella for some time, but festival reps only just entertained the proposal.

Dua Lipa's latest release was her third studio album Radical Optimism, released on May 3, 2024.

2. Tame Impala

Kevin Parker, otherwise known as Tame Impala, has had a great year so far, having just wrapped up the North American leg of his "Deadbeat" tour and reaching new heights with several worldwide hits.

Tame Impala appears to be a perfect choice for Coachella, where he previously headlined in 2019, and had appearances in 2011, 2013, and 2015.

Parker had chart-smashing hits this year, including his Jennie collab 'Dracula,' which has been parked comfortably inside the Billboard's top 10 for more than 16 weeks, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.

His 2025 single 'Loser' also enjoyed a late popularity after being featured in Marvel's latest Spider-Man's installment, Brand New Day.

3. BTS

The Straits Times reported that Goldenvoice has been in intense talks to secure a BTS appearance in Coachella, which followed the shocking Seoul trip by Paul Tollet, the promoter's frontman, earlier this year.

Tollet attended BTS' comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21, amid reports of Hybe buying a stake in Coachella as part of negotiations to grant AEG Presents—Goldenvoice's parent company—promotional rights to the group's world tour. The plan, though, did not materialize, as rival Live Nation clinched the deal, as reported by The Korea Herald.

BTS—with members RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—has been enjoying a great year thus far, after releasing their post-military conscription album ARIRANG and embarking on a subsequent world tour.

The K-pop supergroup is set to kick off their South American leg of the tour in early October, but their last confirmed date lines up just in time for Coachella. The ARIRANG World Tour will, for now, end in Bulacan, the Philippines, on March 16, about three weeks before the California event starts.

Who else is in talks to join the Coachella 2027 lineup?

According to NME, citing HITS, the British record producer and EDM DJ Fred Again is reportedly in talks for the special “Returning to the Desert” gig that appears separately at the bottom of the festival's lineup poster.

Miley Cyrus, who just released her album Bass Persuades, was in demand for a headlining shot, but HITS reported that she turned the offer down.

Besides the aforementioned stars, SZA—whose latest Coachella appearance was this year as Justin Bieber's guest—and two legendary rock bands Oasis and Radiohead, are also being considered for major placement in the festival. HITS said the former is likelier to appear than either of the bands.

Regardless of who will headline Coachella next year, the festival is set to drum up interest after a record concurrent viewership in the festival's history of YouTube partnerships. This year's lineup included headliners Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G.
