TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kylian Mbappe delivered a starring performance in Real Madrid's victory over Real Sociedad during matchday two of the 2026/27 La Liga season. The French striker scored a hat trick to lead Los Blancos to a 4-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday.
The result puts Real Madrid top of the standings with six points from two matches, while Real Sociedad languishes at the bottom of the table without a point, according to La Liga's official website.
Madrid played aggressively from the start, relying on the attacking trio of Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham. Sociedad relied heavily on counterattacks and occasionally threatened through Mikel Oyarzabal, but Madrid finally broke the deadlock in the 40th minute.
Mbappe got his name on the scoresheet after finishing Federico Valverde's pass to give Madrid a 1-0 lead.
The advantage lasted just four minutes as Sociedad equalized through Luka Sucic, who fired home from close range after Ibrahima Konate blocked an initial effort, keeping the score 1-1 at halftime.
In the second half, Mbappe restored Madrid's lead in the 60th minute, collecting Bellingham's pass inside the penalty box before finishing to make it 2-1. Madrid extended their advantage eight minutes later when Vinicius Junior scored after latching onto Bellingham's pass near the post to make it 3-1.
Los Blancos continued to dominate despite making several substitutions, as Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler were replaced to give other players minutes.
Mbappe completed his hat trick in the 80th minute, receiving Vinicius' through ball inside the box before chipping goalkeeper Alex Remiro. The goal gave Madrid a 4-1 lead and sealed Mbappe's treble.
Madrid had a chance to add a fifth goal through Brahim Diaz in the 90th minute, but the referee disallowed the effort for offside during the buildup.
With no further goals before the final whistle, Madrid secured a 4-1 victory over Sociedad.
