SHAH ALAM – Think you have the strength, stamina and teamwork to take on a challenge beyond the gym? Project Strong is returning to Karnival Ban Canal 2026, inviting fitness enthusiasts to put their abilities to the test in a series of physical tasks inspired by the daily work of local farmers and fishermen.
Organised by Sinar Daily, the challenge will take place on Nov 7 at Ban Canal, Parit 14, Simpang Lima, Sabak Bernam, Selangor, as part of the three-day carnival running from Nov 6 to 8.
Unlike conventional fitness competitions that rely on gym equipment, Project Strong takes participants into the working landscape of Sabak Bernam, where strength, endurance, coordination and teamwork are put to the test.
Participants will compete in a demanding course involving cycling, running, paddling and handling weights, putting their strength, endurance and teamwork to the test before reaching the finishing line.
Beyond physical strength, the challenge will test how well teammates work together, manage their energy and support one another throughout the competition.
The winning team will receive RM3,000, while the second and third-placed teams will take home RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively. Other participating teams will also receive consolation goodies worth RM300.
In a separate award category, redONE Mobile will present the redHOT Best Team award to the team demonstrating the best teamwork and collaboration. Under the tagline "Great Teams, Bold Spirit", the award celebrates the spirit of working together and recognises participants whose team spirit stands out, regardless of their final position in the competition.
The winning pair will receive two 5G smartphones worth RM1,500 each and two Aeon vouchers worth RM200 each.
RedONE Mobile Marketing head Jemay Naim said the carnival provided a platform to celebrate local identity while encouraging community participation and healthier lifestyles.
"Every community has something special to offer, and Karnival Ban Canal is an opportunity to celebrate that spirit through activities that bring people together, promote healthy lifestyles and showcase what makes Sabak Bernam unique.
"RedONE Mobile is proud to support an initiative that encourages community participation, celebrates local identity and creates opportunities for the community to thrive," he said.
He added that the initiative reflected redONE Mobile's role as a Community Telco, supporting programmes that contribute to the well-being and growth of the communities it serves.
For those who enjoy fitness events such as Hyrox and Spartan races, Project Strong offers a different kind of challenge, trading specialised gym equipment for real terrain, practical tasks and the demands of outdoor competition.
Whether you are competing for the prizes or simply looking to test your limits, Project Strong offers an opportunity to discover how strength, determination and teamwork come together beyond the gym.
Head to Karnival Ban Canal on Nov 7 to catch the action and cheer on the competing teams.
