A laid-back Labrador has gone viral after being filmed lying on his bed with what appears to be a smile spread across his face while his hidden snacks are quietly taken away.

Captioned “smells like farts,” the short clip shows a man lifting pieces of broccoli from beneath the dog and placing them on a table. Throughout the process, the Labrador does not move an inch, remaining stretched out on his bed as if unbothered by the loss of his stash.

The footage was shared to TikTok by @beanieweeniezz0 and quickly captured viewers’ attention, earning 1.9 million views. At the time of writing, the video has almost 340,000 likes.

As the man removes piece after piece of broccoli, the Labrador’s expression barely changes, giving the impression he is smiling throughout the encounter. The relaxed moment resonated with viewers online.

Can Dogs Eat Broccoli?

According to pet food company Purina, dogs can eat broccoli in small quantities. Cooked green vegetables such as broccoli can be a reasonably healthy treat, but they should only be offered in moderation.

This is because broccoli contains isothiocyanate, a substance that can cause digestive issues if a dog eats too much of it.

Purina advises that treats should make up no more than 10 percent of a dog’s daily calorie intake. When fed within that guideline, most dogs can enjoy broccoli without unwanted stomach problems. However, if broccoli appears to upset a dog’s stomach, it is best not to continue feeding it.

Broccoli does contain vitamin C and fiber, but these nutrients should already be present in a dog’s balanced diet if they are eating a complete, species‑specific pet food.

Broccoli can also pose risks if given too often or in large amounts. Because of the isothiocyanate content, it is not a treat that should be offered regularly. There is also a choking risk, particularly from the stems, which can be reduced by cutting broccoli into small, bite-sized pieces. Owners should always supervise their pets and contact a vet if they notice signs of digestive distress.

TikTok Reacts

So far, the internet can’t get enough of the clip and have raced to the comments section to defend the canine.

“Forgive a guy for wanting a healthy snack for later,” one user joked.

Another said: “No, give him back his tiny trees!”

A third shared: “I have a dog that hid 10 cookies all over the house. I had to follow him when he went to collect his prizes throughout the day and luckily he didn’t eat any of them. I gave him a treat for showing me his cookies.”
