Owner Takes Dog to Vets About His ‘Weird’ Walk, Hysterics at Diagnosis

A dog owner’s moment of confusion turned into an internet hit after a short Instagram video showed a pup walking in a way that left viewers both baffled and amused.

The Instagram clip, shared on Wednesday, captures a Shiba Inu dog strolling along on a leash—but not in the straight line most people would expect. Instead, the canine moves diagonally across the pavement, appearing completely relaxed and unbothered, as if this unusual style of walking is perfectly normal.

The owner, who shared the video under the username @mika_tai_0601, filmed the moment during a casual walk, unaware at first that the short clip would soon rack up hundreds of thousands of views.

The video is framed humorously, with text explaining the situation from the owner’s perspective. “POV [point of view]: your Shiba walks diagonally and you once paid a vet just to confirm he’s just weird,” the caption reads. It continues with the diagnosis that left viewers laughing: “There is nothing wrong except his personality.”

The post quickly struck a chord with social-media users, many of whom could relate to worrying about a pet, only to discover that nothing was medically wrong at all.

While the Shiba Inu calmly continues his angled walk, the joke lands because of how perfectly ordinary the animal seems, despite what looks, at first glance, like a problem.

American pet owners spent over $157 billion on their animals in 2025, and the number is expected to grow to $200 billion by 2030. According to Capital One Shopping, $41.4 billion was spent on vet care and products alone.

Among the biggest expenses were also services, including boarding, grooming, insurance, training, pet sitting, and so on, cost Americans $13.5 billion.

The short video spread rapidly after it was posted, gaining traction as viewers shared it with friends and fellow dog lovers. As of now, the clip has received more than 1.1 million views and over 62,000 likes on Instagram, cementing its place as a viral lifestyle moment.

One user, Jufeelios, commented: “My boy needs a wheel alignment.”

Giuseppemainecoon said: “That’s not a dog that’s an Ikea cart.”

Hvntingforteeth added: “Mine do this too sometimes and I think it might be because they don’t like feeling the leash on their tail.”
