A short video of two wildly different dogs playing at a Pennsylvania daycare has melted the hearts of viewers online.
The clip, shared to TikTok on March 21 under @slink_and_rem, has been viewed more than 1.3 million times and received over 172,000 likes. Filmed at Dogtopia of Easton, a canine daycare center in Easton, Pennsylvania, the video shows Susan, a reserved Italian greyhound, cautiously warming up to playful encouragement from Remy, a brown dachshund who appears to instinctively guide their interaction.
“Susan was born in a puppy mill, where she suffered years of abuse, malnutrition, and was repeatedly used for breeding,” Susan’s owners, Jared, 32, and JC, 41, told Newsweek. “After being rescued, she had several teeth pulled, leaving her with that signature crooked, snaggletooth smile.
“She never knew a home, never had a name, and her rescuers informed us she may never learn to play with other dogs after everything she went through.”
But the video captures a quiet but powerful shift. At the start, Susan appears reserved, standing back as Remy the dachshund confidently initiates play. Remy takes the lead, bouncing and circling, while Susan watches closely, her tail tucked in. Moments later, the hesitation gives way to movement. Susan joins in, chasing and tumbling alongside her friend, the two dogs clearly at ease with one another.
The post was captioned: “My heart is full. Rem has really come out of his shell whenever his bestie Susan is at daycare!”
The video was created by Remy’s owner, 28-year-old Anna, who also wants to keep her full identity private. She told Newsweek that both dogs regularly attend Dogtopia of Easton, where the friendship developed.
“[The team at] Dogtopia of Easton are a huge part of our lives,” Anna said.
For Susan’s owners, seeing her engage so freely with another dog has been deeply emotional. After years of neglect and trauma, they were warned that play and social confidence might never come naturally to her and are delighted by her progress.
“Seeing how much she’s grown, and how much she’s come out of her shell thanks to her friends like Remy at Dogtopia of Easton, has been a beautiful thing to witness,” they said. “Susan’s recovery has been and continues to be a long road, but moments like this remind us of the incredible ability that all dogs have to find joy and excitement in life, no matter what they’ve experienced.”
Viewers on TikTok responded with an outpouring of support, with many commenting on Susan’s visible transformation and Remy’s gentle persistence. Others praised the dogs’ bond, describing the video as uplifting and emotional, and sharing their own stories of rescue animals learning to trust again.
Susan’s owners said they were not surprised by the reaction.
“I knew right away that once people saw the two of them together, they would recognize how special their bond was and want to know more about them,” they said.
Both families emphasized the role Dogtopia of Easton has played in supporting the dogs’ well-being, describing the Pennsylvania daycare as a consistent, caring environment that allows dogs to build confidence at their own pace.
