Avideo showing what happens when two very different dog breeds share a bed has gone viral, earning over 191,500 views.

The TikTok clip features a Great Dane and a dachshund lying together on a dog bed, despite the obvious size difference between them. The second canine is around six times smaller than his much-larger companion.

Text overlaid on the footage reads, “the moment he realized he has to share his bed for life,” a moment that has clearly struck a chord with viewers. The video has also racked up more than 12,000 likes.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) says male Great Danes typically reach between 30 and 32 inches in height, while miniature dachshunds measure just 5 to 6 inches and a standard isn’t much taller at 8 to 9 inches.

Despite their size differences, the dogs, based in England, appear closely bonded. Their owner has shared multiple videos of the pair on TikTok under the handle @cotswolds_family_rein.

In the comments, the owner responded to one viewer by writing: “They are together all the time, she is now 9 months.”

Another commenter suggested the larger canine might need more space, writing: “He needs a bigger bed.”

The owner reassured viewers, replying: “We have many beds but they usually sleep together anyway.”

A third user summed up the sentiment shared by many, commenting: “Oh wow little and large. I love it.”

Why Dog Beds Matter

According to the AKC, having the right dog bed plays an important role in a canine’s comfort and overall well-being.

Supportive beds help cushion a dog’s body and can ease pressure on joints, which is especially important for older canines and larger breeds. They also benefit puppies, supporting developing joints and encouraging restful sleep.

Quality sleep is important for dogs of all ages. Research cited by the AKC shows that canines who sleep well are better able to retain what they learn, as rest supports memory and learning. A comfortable bed can also help dogs stay asleep for longer periods.

The AKC also notes that canines are den animals and benefit from having a dedicated place to relax. Choosing a bed that suits a dog’s size gives them enough space to stretch out and settle, creating a calm spot away from the noise and activity of the home.

For the viral Great Dane and dachshund, however, comfort appears to come not from size alone—but from sharing the same space, no matter how different they may be.
