Veteran pass rusher Von Miller signed a one-year, free-agent contract with the Washington Commanders before the 2025 NFL season.

Miller had one other offer on the table from the Seattle Seahawks, who would go on to win the Super Bowl.

While the Seahawks reached the pinnacle of football success, Miller and the Commanders missed the playoffs after recording just five regular-season wins.

During a recent appearance on the “89” podcast with Steve Smith and James Palmer, Miller admitted that he chose the “wrong team” in free agency.

“Obviously, I picked the wrong team on that one,” Miller said.

Miller hitched his wagon to what he thought was the team that had a better chance to compete for a Super Bowl title. The year before he signed with Washington, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Commanders played their way to the NFC Championship game.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks missed the playoffs in 2024.

“For me, with the Washington Commanders, I just felt like Jayden Daniels was poised for another great season,” Miller said, via ProFootballTalk. “His rookie season went all the way to the NFC Championship, and last year, he got hit with injuries, not just at the quarterback position, but all over the place. And those are some of the things that you just can’t calculate on teams.”

Miller, 37, is an unsigned free agent heading into the 2026 NFL season.
