A brief encounter between a passerby and two stoic dogs has many convinced they just witnessed the most New York interaction possible.
On TikTok, user camilomposada shared a video showing the moment he walked by two jacket-clad dogs in New York City.
“We found these little dogs in New York waiting for their owners,” the creator wrote as the caption.
Sidewalk Standoff
One canine is seen wearing a blue jacket while the other is seen wearing a pink jacket, both sitting on a bench.
Both of the dogs look at the creator while filming, giving him a look that prompted plenty of jokes across TikTok.
Their composed expressions quickly fueled commentary from viewers who interpreted their body language as distinctly metropolitan.
The clip has earned 1.3 million views and more than 2,600 comments within four days.
Viewers Assign Big-City Personalities
“Real New Yorkers, one angry and one filled with anxiety,” a TikTok viewer quipped.
Another admired, “They’ve both got amazing NYC energy.”
Much of the humor in the thread comes from the idea that the dogs seemed suspicious of being recorded. Rather than responding playfully, they remained seated and watchful.
“They’re like, ‘Why he recording us’,” a contributor joked.
A fellow commenter added, “They have to be thinking ‘Why are these people staring at us like that?’ Like they not dressed in jackets, sitting on a bench.”
Funny Dogs Go Viral
Stories involving funny pets and their unique reactions to certain situations often gain traction online.
Newsweek reported about a viral TikTok video showing a border collie, named Nash, appearing to mimic its owner’s behavior while waiting to to care for cattle on his owner’s large farm.
“The stretch of driveway in the video runs past our pasture and the cows usually gather at the gate when they know hay is coming,” Nash’s owner, Michelle Rhodes, previously explained to Newsweek.
“One of Nash’s main jobs is pushing them back from the gate so I can safely come through on the tractor.”
After taking the clip, Rhodes looked at her border collie dancing on the spot and it reminded her of a funny audio she had seen on TikTok. She decided to place that same audio over Nash’s video, with the result that it went hugely viral.
Another Newsweek story covered a video showing a golden retriever who made an unforgettable first impression on his new neighbors by showing up with his own ball while they played with their own.
“We have a new dog in the neighborhood! He saw us playing ball with our dogs and nervously showed up with his ball. He is still a little shy of me, but he let me get his ball! I love this neighborhood,” reads layover text in the clip.
