MANILA, Philippines — Japanese actor Mackenyu, best known internationally for portraying swordsman Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's live-action adaptation of “One Piece,” is set to return to the Philippines for a fan meeting later this year.
The actor will headline "P1ECE OF YU: Mackenyu Fan Meet Live in Manila" on Aug. 29 at The Theater at Solaire, marking his highly anticipated return to the country for an event dedicated to his Filipino fans.
Produced by CNCA, the event promises an afternoon of onstage interactions, exclusive segments, games and fan activities celebrating Mackenyu's career in film and television.
"I am so excited to finally meet you guys again... I think it's about time we meet again in person. So, I'll see you guys there," the Japanese actor said in a video message.
One of the event's biggest attractions will be an exclusive selfie session with Mackenyu, available to SVIP ticket holders. Organizers said the premium experience will give fans the opportunity to have a personal photo with the actor.
Other ticket categories will also include fan-oriented activities and event perks designed to provide attendees with memorable interactions throughout the afternoon, according to the organizers.
The upcoming event marks Mackenyu's first appearance in the Philippines since November 2023, when he headlined the Manila Pop Culture Convention (ManiPopCon) at Ayala Malls Manila Bay and staged his first solo fan meeting, "Closer to You: Fun Fan Meet," at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Mackenyu has built a global following through roles in Japanese films and television before achieving wider international recognition as Zoro in Netflix's “One Piece.” He has also starred in live-action adaptations of popular manga and anime titles, including “Rurouni Kenshin: The Final,” “Knights of the Zodiac” and “Saint Seiya.”
Tickets for the Manila fan meet will go on sale beginning July 30 at noon through TicketWorld. Organizers encouraged fans to monitor CNCA's official platforms for ticketing details, event guidelines and other announcements ahead of the event.
