Will the K-drama Reborn Rookie return for season 2?
As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding season 2 of the K-drama Reborn Rookie.
The show concludes its central story with Yong-ho and Jun-hyeon returning to their original bodies, the conspiracy behind Yong-ho's attempted murder being exposed, and Choiseong Group entering a new chapter under new leadership. Moreover, the series is adapted from the web novel New Employee Chairman Kang by Sang Yeong, which tells a standalone story.
However, the finale deliberately leaves one major mystery unresolved. During the closing moments, a collision involving Jun-hyeon, Yong-ho and a woman, played in a special appearance by ITZY's Ryujin, triggers another soul swap. The episode ends before revealing whether the situation is reversed, suggesting that the supernatural phenomenon is far from over.
If the series returns, a second season could explore the origins of the mysterious soul-swapping ability and Jun-hyeon's new predicament.
What happens at the end of Reborn Rookie?
The finale of Reborn Rookie sees Yong-ho and Jun-hyeon regain their original bodies after another accident recreates the circumstances that caused the initial soul swap. Together, they expose Kang Jae-gyeong's crimes, reveal that Na Eun-se was responsible for disconnecting Yong-ho's ventilator, and bring down Na Byeong-mo's slush fund operation.
Yong-ho ultimately chooses not to return as chairman of Choiseong Group, allowing Sang-jae to lead the company instead while Bong-ki becomes managing director. Jun-hyeon leaves the corporate world behind to become a youth football coach, and he officially begins a relationship with Bang-geul. Following a two-year time jump, Jae-gyeong is shown living with memory loss under the care of her husband, Seok-do.
The series closes with a comedic cliffhanger as Jun-hyeon accidentally swaps souls with an anonymous woman, leaving the story open-ended despite resolving its main conflicts.
