Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has appointed Byung Goo Ko as its new president, effective July 27, 2026.

Ko succeeds Jiho Son, whose tenure focused on expanding HMPH’s dealer network and vehicle lineup. Following four years of continued expansion under its previous leadership, HMPH said Ko will guide the company into its next phase of sustained growth.

“The Philippines has always been a valued market for us at Hyundai Motor Company, and we see so much potential for growth,” Ko said. “With a constantly changing automotive landscape, it’s now more important than ever to strengthen our brand presence and to inspire consumer confidence.”

More than two decades with Hyundai

Ko brings more than 20 years of experience at Hyundai Motor Company, with roles spanning international market development, sales operations, and global business strategy.

Throughout his career, he has held strategic positions covering Asia Pacific, Europe, India, and the Middle East, contributing to Hyundai’s expansion across international markets.

“We gladly welcome Mr. Ko to Hyundai Motor Philippines. He is a seasoned figure in the automotive industry with extensive experience across all business operations. With him at the helm, HMPH looks forward to building on its momentum and pursuing new opportunities in the years ahead,” said Cecil Capacete, managing director of Hyundai Motor Philippines.

Continuing HMPH’s growth

Under Ko’s leadership, HMPH said it will continue developing the car ownership experience and providing mobility solutions for customers nationwide.

His appointment follows a period of expansion for the company, including the growth of its dealer network and model portfolio in the Philippine market.
